  2. Diadora Vortex Racer II  

My wife gave me this shoes for birthday gift. Diadora has a wide range of cycling shoes, and Vortex racer II is in mid-level range, so its price is not burdensome, compared with the above-mentioned Cosmic Ultimate cycling shoes. Surely at this price, there is none to complain about. 

Vortex Racer II is light. In addition, the upper is soft which feels comfortable, but when standing and in the power, I felt some flex and slip no matter how tightly I had the dials revolved. I think the reason is that this shoes is not for race but for endurance riding. 

Though it is a mid-range model, vortex racer ii adopts dial closure system, which is fantastic. I felt the dial system of vortex is better than one of Mavic. Yep, this is the Boa dial. But the design of this cycling shoes is not good, at least to me. 

The toe box is a bit wider than some Italian and france counterparts, so "the usual go 1 size up" is not necessary. Buy according to your size exactly.

Not stiff as other upper-level shoes, Vortex racer 2 cannot firmly hold your foot, but if you are not sprint-lover, it can be a good option, especially at discounted price.
