Best Users' Review I ever read on BMC SLR02 road bike

My reviews of 2015 Team Machine BMC SLR02

I have ridden just about everything out there. This bike is a fantastic blend of aero, climbing and descending. Over 19+ mph it almost pedals itself. I have never been a fast descender but this thing flies down a mountain. It also handles very will and the geometry is perfect. Not to aggressive not to neutral just perfect. The huge downtube and BB area make it super stiff. When you put the power down it goes. It actually tried to jump out from under me a few times. I don't feel all the road vibration like I did when riding the Specialized Tarmac Expert. For the price point it's a very great deal. If you were fortunate like me to have a bike with Di2 put that on the Team Machine SLR02 and you have a bike that weighs right at 16 lbs. If you are looking for an affordable ride this would be it. I was not a big fan of the 105 components and heavy wheels on stock build so be prepared to upgrade to save on the weight. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new ride. This bike has exceeded all my expectations.
I forgot to mention not a ton of people have them so it's good to be one of a kind.

Doesn't like heavy impact that much. Nothing else
I did my first 80km on the bike on a well known course so I had a term of comparison with my previous bike, a 2010 Giant TCR Advanced. I bought the 105 setup but changed everything from the Giant to the BCM. I'm using Sram Force, Durace C24 wheels, Rotor Agilis Crank, and a 3t cockpit. The bike is weighting around 6,8kg. Manage to shave 300g from the Giant.

Now for the test ride. On the road it as a very natural riding position and it feels very direct from the pedals to the back wheel, this makes it a very good climber. When you puch it it will go, better than the Giant, feels more alive.

Its very confortable on the road but it doesn't stand medium to large impacts as well as the Giant. Its nimbler but because of its shorter wheel base its not as stable on high speed descents as the Giant. But still very good.

I can say that is an evolution of the Giant, both bikes are very much alike but the BMC feels more updated and more alive.
But are both great bikes to ride.

Pros:
- Solid - Dependable bike for all conditions. The bike even held its line steady even on chip surfaces and when trucks bypassed on the freeway. The bike was confident in all categories.
- Comfortable - Bike negotiated poor surfaces well. The rider received decent feedback and the bike tracked well across cracks/potholes. Slight flex was detected when putting power through the pedals but this could be attributed to the lower specced wheels.

The BMC Teammachine SLR02 is a taste of superbike quality at a more real world price point. Highly recommended – a bike you’ll look forward to every ride on.
It’s not often a bike review allows the time to cover a much longer distance for a more fully informed write up. Usually you have anywhere from a day for a first ride review or up to 3 to 4 weeks to ride as time allows to prepare your thoughts. However as much as you can make some useful judgements over a handful of rides, it’s over the longer term that we consumers care the most about. When we choose to spend our hard earned cash on a new bike, it’s in the anticipation of thousands if not 10s of thousands of kilometres over many years.

The SLR02 has some differences over the flagship – the frame here tips the scales at 950g, whereas the 01 takes another 160g from that total. The frame features full external routing for gears and brakes, though they are removable and the frame is routed for electronic groups should you ever wish to upgrade .........

Frame

The BMC Teammachine SLR02 105 is the little brother of the flagship SLR01, as used by the BMC pro team. BMC has used its own lightweight premium carbon for the SLR02 as opposed to the SLR01’s ultra lightweight premium version. There’s a difference in feel, but it’s slight. The lower price does not result in as big a weight penalty as you may think, with the SLR02 frame being around 160g heavier.

The Teammachine is made for the way most of us ride: Lots of long, sometimes fast miles for fun and fitness, with the occasional race thrown in. There isn’t a lot of wow to the SLR02, but this carbon bike is a remarkable value and offers an acceptably comfortable ride.
It can be a bit harsh in the rear end, perhaps due to the oversized chain stays, but that same harshness likely leads to plentiful stiffness for sprints and holding an easy line through sweeping corners.
