What is Fly12 CE? - Summary Review

The 2nd Generation : FLY 12 CE

I owned the previous generation Fly12, the second edition and had thought it was well built, but it was a bit heavy,
which was burdensome to me. Nevertheless, the front light which was integrated with a camera was a good solution
for those that dislike too many accessories on road-bike.

Weight : 1st Fly12 (246g) vs 2nd Fly12 CE (196g) - 49g down

Finally, the new Fly12 CE comes, which solves the drawback of hefty weight. This new model is lighter than
the previous model. Also, the new design includes a quick mount, so that it is easy to switch from one bike to another.
The rubbery case is not only easier to grip, but also looks perfect in terms of design.
Yes, size becomes so smaller, too. Cute baby !!

Video Quality

Video quality is improved, and may be equal - slightly better than - to my SJ4000,
which I bought two years ago, but my friend said “ not equal to his Gopro 4 actioncam.
When Cycliq released the information on this light, I became interested in 6-axis image stabilization.

I think it is essential for action-cams to use image stabilization to get good quality clip.
When it comes to resolution and clarity, I can read road sign and license plates easily about 10m away.

Battery life : Fly12 CE (4,400mAh / 8 hours) - 200mAh, 2 hours down

To reduce heavy weight for which I rarely used the previous Fly12, the battery of the CE model is smaller
by 200mAh, but my usual riding time is 2~3 hours - sometimes 4 hours over - the battery capacity(4,200mAh)
is enough for me and thanks to small battery, the CE can become lighter than 1st Fly12. Super cool. The brightness of Fly12 CE is up from 400 lumens to 600 lumens, which also leads to battery life down.

The new 1/8 turn quick mount works, but is a little fiddly compared with Quadlock mount or Garmin Mount.
I purchased the dual-mount and I had mounted my bike computer on top and the Fly12 CE hanging below.

A poor smartphone app

The app for Fly12 CE becomes downgraded in that you can’t download the footage to your smartphone,
but you could with the previous model, Fly12. This means you have to download it to your computer, which may be inconvenient.
I don’t know why Cycliq decided to do so.
